Sequence Memory — free online memory game

About this game

A grid of tiles lights up in order, and the pattern grows by one flash each level. It is the purest sequence-memory test: no numbers, no words — just order, position and growing length.

How to play Sequence Memory

  1. 1Tiles flash one by one — watch the order.
  2. 2Click them back in the same order.
  3. 3Each level adds one more flash. One mistake ends the run.

What Sequence Memory trains

Sequence memory is sequential working memory: holding an ordered list of locations in mind while it keeps growing. You practice two skills at once — encoding each new step and keeping the earlier chain intact. The same ordering skill keeps track of steps in a recipe, directions, or a dance routine.

What is a good Sequence Memory score?

Most players reach 6–9 levels on their first tries. Passing level 10 means you are chunking the flashes into shapes or rhythm groups instead of storing them one by one — which is exactly the skill being trained.

Is this the same as the Simon game?

It follows the same rule made famous by Simon: watch the pattern, repeat it, and it grows by one. The difference is that the sequence is unlimited — the run only ends when you make a mistake, so your true span is what gets measured.

Is Sequence Memory free?

Yes — Sequence Memory is completely free, with no account, no signup and no downloads. Scores are saved privately in your browser, and you can install MemoryGames as an app from your browser menu if you want it on your home screen.
