Five memory tests, each a real measurement
Every test on this page is a standardized version of a task used in cognitive-psychology research: digit span (the oldest measure of short-term memory), pattern span for visual memory, backward span for working memory, continuous recognition for verbal memory, and scene-detail recall — the honest version of what people search for as a “photographic memory test”. Each one ends with your score placed on a population benchmark, so you leave with a number that means something.
- Short-Term Memory Test — digit span; typical result 5–9 digits. About 2 minutes.
- Visual Memory Test — pattern recall; typical result 8–11 level. About 2 minutes.
- Working Memory Test — backward span; typical result 4–7 digits. About 3 minutes.
- Verbal Memory Test — word recognition; typical result 25–45 words. About 3 minutes.
- Photographic Memory Test — detail recall; typical result 4–7 of 9. About 3 minutes.
Tests measure and games train: every result screen links to the game that practices that exact skill, and the daily workout rotates through all of them in about ten minutes a day. The techniques behind big scores — the memory palace, the Major System — are taught in the interactive guides.
Honest scope: these are self-tests for training and curiosity, built on published protocols (Miller 1956 for digit span, the WMS backward-span subtest, Corsi-style pattern span). They are not clinical instruments, and no browser test can diagnose anything — if memory problems affect your daily life, please see a doctor.
